A balanced lighting situation where I am metering predominantly for the ambient light in the room and setting my QFlash as the Key light at 45 degrees to camera left to wash across the subject. The QFlash is diffused with the Softbox attachment. The image is manipulated with Nik Filters for drama and effect.

Another balanced lighting situation where I am metering predominantly for the ambient light in the room and setting my QFlash as the Key light at around 30 degrees to camera left and just a few centimeters above the subjects eyeline. The QFlash is again diffused with the Softbox attachment. The image is manipulated with Nik Filters for drama and effect.

This shot was made in Malta in Selmun Castle. The room was lit by windows at camera left which I drew the curtains to effectively channel and ‘flag’ the light strategically. Still balancing my light at a low shutter speed, the QFlash with the bare bulb deflector was to my left classically ‘short lighting’ the subject.
