Quantum QFlash images

This is a picture of the CEO for Welcomebreak, it was shot for their corporate brochure. I Used 2 Qflash units, both with FreeXwire radio triggers so there were no cables for the general public to trip on as this image was shot on the hoof in a "Live" situation.

My camera was tripod mounted so I could "Drag the shutter" using a slow speed to capture the ambient light (and make the illuminated signs "Glow") that I was using for my fill. My key light was a Qflash T5D-R to the subjects right bounced out of a brolly running slightly "Hotter" than my "Fill". My second Qflash was used as an accent / rim light. This was placed behind the tall sign picture right. I fitted the standard head with diffuser and blue gel. This has become somewhat of a signature in many of my pictures. This light ran at a stop or so more power than the key light, it just ads a little colour and makes things slightly more interesting.

Again of the CEO to get across the amount of travel he does and that the Welcombreak sites are in effect his "Office" due to his constant travels. We positioned his car so that the illuminated Welcomebreak sign was clearly visible through his passenger window, both side windows were rolled down.

The tricky light in this set up was the blue gelled rim light. this was fitted with the standard head and diffuser. I opened his rear door and carefully positioned the light on a stand so it wasn't in shot. The immense power output options of the Qflash really helped here as I could get the unit to output just the right amount of light for the effect I wanted. The key light was once more a second Qflash bounced out of a brolly aimed directly through his windscreen at him and was just slightly more than the level of ambient light. All FreeXwire synced. The shot was hand held. As you can imagine a CEO of a major company has very little time to spare.

Thanks to Quantum batteries, my Qflash and I suppose me the whole shoot was completed in 15 minutes maximum.

This was shot literally in the lunch queue and once more for the Welcomebreak brochure. The Qflash with FreeXwire fitted came into its own here, no cables for the public to trip on and the units are so compact you can literally get them anywhere.

Unit 1 was placed behind the counter using the gold bare bulb enhancer to light the space?behind the racking. my main light was once more a Qflash bounced out of a brolly to camera left and fill was "Dragging the shutter" and making use of the ambient illumination. Once more the amazing controllability of the power output came into its own here as the shot called for a limited depth of field as was the brochure designers request. so just "Blasting away" with flash wouldn't have achieved the desired result.

Thumbs up to Qflash!?

All Qflash units were individually metered with a flash meter.
