THE GREEN CLEAN Clip & Flip is a simple but extremely useful accessory allowing a magnified view while cleaning sensors or other senitive surfaces and still leaving both hands free for the job in hand. There are many other tasks where a clear magnified view is needed for which the Clip & Flip is ideally suited.

Clip & Flip is easy to use; just clip onto the brim of your hat, and you're away!
That's the Clip part, and the Flip part means that the lenses flip down for a magnified image and flip up for normal viewing.
For best results, position lenses close to your eyes, by pushing the clip right onto the brim. Spectacle wearers, position lenses in front of your glasses.

Clip’n’flip
The new Green Clean “Clip & Flip” magnifier glasses from Flaghead Photographic are intended to be used by photographers to give a 1.75x magnified view to assist when cleaning sensors or other delicate photographic parts. The unique feature of this product is that the glasses are securely clipped to the peak of a baseball style cap (not supplied), and can be flipped up or down as required. This allows the user to concentrate on the cleaning task hands free, and without fear of misplacing the glasses in the middle of a sensitive operation. If you work in a kitchen or hospital you have to cover your head and the cap does the same job when cleaning cameras – it keeps anything from your head from falling into the camera as you work. The glasses are a useful addition to the Green Clean range of sensor cleaning products which includes the dust vac (pictured) and wet/dry sensor swabs reviewed a couple of years ago when first launched. Flaghead kindly provided these as well as the glasses.

First impressions were of a high quality sturdy construction with clear plastic lenses and a strong clip with which to attach the glasses to the cap. The clip was surprisingly effective and kept the glasses in place without any noticeable slippage or rotation. The lenses were bright and clear, and came with a plastic pouch to prevent scratches and fingerprints. The best view is obtained if the glasses are attached close to the eyes.

The focusing point is very close, about 6-12 inches in front, which is ideal for close up sensor cleaning operations, but maybe not so good if looking for the cleaning kit on the other side of the studio! In this case, the glasses can conveniently be flipped up to temporarily return to normal vision. Viewing the sensor through the glasses gave a much clearer and easier view of any loose dust particles to be sucked up with the vac system. Following this with the wet/dry swab, the magnified view was not quite so necessary as the swabbing is a less precise operation covering the whole of the sensor.

The manufacturers state that it can be used for a range of model-making, repair work, hobbies or viewing the images on the back of your camera. I have already used the glasses for a fiddly computer repair, but can’t see anyone using them to view images on the screen because of the close focusing distance. Overall, this product is a useful addition to a sensor cleaning workflow. I will keep it handy in my studio for cleaning operations as well as a variety of other applications. |
